How it Works

1
MEET & EXPLORE

Let's meet on a complimentary Discovery Call to get a general overview of your project. This is followed by a paid in-home consultation to understand what you want to specifically achieve from your project and review the details. At the Exploratory phase we will conduct an in-depth design interview, schedule preliminary contractor walkthroughs, review budget planning and begin working on your initial design concept.

2
DESIGN & VISUALISE

Based on an in-depth understanding of your requirements, lifestyle, aspirations and personal style, we select all products and materials specific to your design preferences and functional needs. We create a comprehensive design plan that addresses every aspect of your space. Our design presentations include 3D renderings, precise floor plans, physical samples of product and materials, which enables you to visualise your completed space.

3
PROCURE & INSTALL

At the design execution phase, we act as your advocate to ensure that the design plan is followed, and provide guidance on resolving on-site issues. Meanwhile, furniture is ordered and tracked, ready for delivery. Once construction is wrapped up, an installation day is scheduled. All furniture is installed, artwork hung, accessories placed, and finishing touches applied. Finally, deficiencies are remedied. Your personalised home is now ready for you to move in.

 Read the FAQs

How much does this package cost? Do I need to pay up front?

Every project is unique and pricing will be customised according to the size and complexity of the project.

The price is packaged and discussed upfront so there are no surprises along the way. The pricing is also flexible, so that you may add-on services as we go. If more services are added then an estimate will be provided upon request prior to the commencement of additional work.

Work commences with the payment of a deposit at the beginning of the contract. Payments made thereafter are staged and tied to project deliverables. I will provide all these details prior to engagement in the Services Proposal you receive at the end of the Project Launch Sequence.

I don't know how much to invest in this project. Will you help me figure it out?

Yes. A key part of our service is to help you build a realistic investment budget for your project that you are comfortable with and will stick to. Building a cushion to soften the blow of unforeseen contingencies is a must.

Ascertaining the numbers is a major component in the planning phase. We will also revisit these numbers periodically through budgetary checkpoints and check ins throughout the project; this is an integral part of our process.

Do I need a contract?

Yes. It is important that we have a contract in place to understand our mutual roles and obligations. A good contract protects all parties and sets expectations. This is true of all professionals that you work with on your renovation journey.

It is equally important that your carefully peruse these contracts and get a good understanding of what these entail. My contract with you will be written in plain English and I welcome questions and clarifications being made prior to signing on the proverbial dotted line.

As an interior designer what is your role when it comes to designing a floor plan?

Space planning is at the heart of the interior design process. This includes a deep understanding of how you and your family live and the allocation of space to meet these demands. Ideally, in doing this the way you live and efficient movement throughout the space must be considered.

In addition, a good floor plan takes into account aspects such as room orientation to maximise natural light, the efficient management of heating, capitalising on views and the indoor outdoor connection. The optimal allocation of storage space and the minimisation of dead space are also important considerations.

Are the floor plans suitable for construction?

In your renovation project you will work with a team of professionals to achieve your goals.

The floor plans that we work on together are conceptual plans and are not suitable for construction purposes. I will liaise and collaborate with your architect or building designer who will provide constructions drawings based on the conceptual floor plans.

I know exactly what I want and I just need it to be drawn up for construction. Can you help me?

I don’t offer this service. If you feel that you have worked through all the considerations and you are ready to have your plans drawn up, it's best to contract a building designer or a draftsman to have construction plans drawn up for you.

I'm working with an architect/building designer, but would like your insight as well. Can you work together?

Designing your home is a collaborative process. if you are already working with a design professional such as an architect or building designer please check with him/her that they are open to work with me.

If that is the case, I'll be happy to come on board and share ideas and knowledge to get the most out of your design project.

I have some furniture pieces that I want to keep for my renovated home - can these be incorporated in the design?

Yes. This is perfectly all right. In fact, I encourage you to keep pieces of furniture, accessories and artwork that have meaning to you and will make sense within your newly renovated space.

As we will be moving walls, and drawing up new floor plans for your home. It is important that rooms are sized appropriately to meet regulations and practical considerations such as the size of your furniture are taken into account.

As much as your needs and aspirations are considered in the designing process, care is taken to ensure your furniture will fit in to your newly designed home.

We may recommend moving the pieces of furniture you already have to other parts of the house. Even if you intend on purchasing new furniture for your renovated home it is important to consider the dimensions of nominal pieces when space planning.

As such, we will work out the space plan for your furniture, both old and new to be cohesive within your remodelled home.

Will you organise the trades people for this project?

I don’t hire trades people on your behalf. At the execution stage, however, I will provide guidance on hiring trades people and/or builder and work with them to ensure the design intent is being met.

Do I need to get any licences or approvals to complete this project?

As there will be structural changes involved licences or approvals will be needed for works carried out in your home.

Obtaining these approvals does not fall under my purview. The professional drafting your construction drawings will be able to offer further guidance.

How fast can I get this project done?

It is very important that you share your deadlines and preferred completion dates during the Discovery Call.

Ideally in a project such as this you’d take your time and work through the planning and design phases thoroughly and to your complete satisfaction prior to moving on to the execution phases.

It is also important that documentation and sourcing decisions are made prior to the start of construction to ensure the smoothest and quickest construction phase.

Approvals by some Councils take a lot longer and are more stringent than others. Sometimes your preferred builder may be booked out many months ahead. So it is best to give the process the time it invariably takes.

By the end of the Project Launch Sequence we will be in a better position to work out a realistic timeline together.
